- Members on Legacy 1.0, 2.0 plans (including DEFY) will lose all service and their number on October 27, 2022 and will be unable to port or use their number after this date. Please move your number to a new plan well in advance of this date.
Objective
- Upgrade Legacy 1.0, 2.0 and DEFY XT service to Republic Wireless 5.0 plans and keep your number
Important Information
- 5.0 Accounts are limited to five phone lines per account
- You may have as many accounts as you need, each associated with a unique e-mail address
- All phones on a 5.0 accounts must be on the same plan
- If you have two or more phones to upgrade, you must upgrade them at the same time. You can't have a mixture of 5.0 and legacy phones on the same account
- The DEFY XT, Moto E (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 3rd Gen), and Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen) are not compatible with 5.0 plans. These phones were sold in 2011-2016 and are not compatible with new cellular technology
- Current DEFY XT, 1.0, and 2.0 plans cannot be used with newer phones, because the cellular infrastructure that supports these older phones is being shut down by our cellular carrier partner. See What Does the CDMA Network Shutdown Mean for Me?

Steps to order the new 5.0 plan for accounts with only one or two lines
Note: You'll move your number(s) to the new plan after you receive the SIM card(s)

- To order your plan, log into your account at account.republicwireless.com.
- Click My Account
- Click Manage my Plan in the black menu area on the left
- Click Change Plan
- Click Build Plan - this will take you to the online store
- Select the Number of Lines (up to five lines)
- Select the plan you want (Need/Want/Go) by clicking the appropriate Get Plan button
Note: Plan purchase includes your new 5.0 SIM card(s) - In the cart preview that slides onto the page, select Shop Phones if you plan to purchase a phone from our online store. Add the appropriate number of phones to your cart. Select I'll use my existing phone if you plan to purchase your new phone elsewhere.
- Click View Cart
- Review the cart carefully and click Checkout
- Complete checkout to pay for your new plan(s) and phone(s)
- When your order arrives, you will move your current number(s) to your new plan by following the steps to activate your new plan on a legacy account, below.
Steps to order the new 5.0 plan for accounts with two lines or more

Because 5.0 accounts can only have a maximum of five phone lines per account, you will have to upgrade your service lines individually or in groups of up to five on new accounts until you have only one or two lines left on your legacy account. Those remaining one or two lines can be upgraded using the steps in the section above.
- Go to the Plans page of our Online Store

- Select the plan for your new account. See Republic 5.0 Plans for details.
- Select the phone(s) for each plan, or click "I'll use my existing phone" to continue without buying a phone.
Note: Plan purchase includes your new 5.0 SIM card(s). - Proceed to checkout and create a new account. Do not log in with your legacy account credentials.
- Continue through checkout by following the prompts.
- Submit your order.
- When your order arrives, move your current number(s) to the new plan(s) by continuing with the steps to activate your new plan(s) on new accounts, below.

- When your order arrives, open all the boxes. Do not discard the plastic, credit-card-sized SIM card carrier; you will need it.
- Install your SIM Cards
- Turn the phone(s) on and set it/them aside
- Go to republicwireless.com/activate
- Sign in with your legacy account’s email address and password
- Review the process and click Get Started
- Notice the phone number that is shown. You'll be moving that phone number to your new SIM card.
- Click the Select ICCID dropdown and click Enter a Different ICCID.
- Enter the SIM card’s ICCID from the back of the credit-card-sized SIM card carrier

- Repeat steps 7 through 10 for your second line
- Click Submit Activation
- Check your email inbox for important updates on the activation progress.

- Turn on the phones and set them aside
- Go to republicwireless.com/activate
- Sign in with your 5.0 account’s email address and password
- Review the process and click Get Started
- Click the Select ICCID dropdown and click Enter a Different ICCID.
- Enter the SIM card’s ICCID from the back of the credit-card-sized SIM card carrier

- Select Keep my Number
- Enter your name, PIN, and billing info exactly as it is saved on file in the Account Portal.
- Your account number is your 10 digit phone number with no punctuation
- Select “other” in the carrier drop-down
- Repeat steps 7 through 10 for your second line
- Review your lines and phone numbers and make any additional edits. Click Submit Activation.
