How to Upgrade from Legacy 1.0 and 2.0 Plans (Including DEFY) to our 5.0 Plans

Objective

  • Upgrade Legacy 1.0, 2.0 and DEFY XT service to Republic Wireless 5.0 plans and keep your number

Important Information

  • 5.0 Accounts are limited to two phone lines per account
  • You may have as many accounts as you need, each associated with a unique e-mail address
  • All phones on a 5.0 accounts must be on the same plan
  • If you have two phones to upgrade, you must upgrade them at the same time. You can't have a mixture of 5.0 and legacy phones on the same account
  • The DEFY XT, Moto E (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 3rd Gen), and Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen) are not compatible with 5.0 plans. These phones were sold in 2011-2016 and are not compatible with new cellular technology
  • Current DEFY XT, 1.0, and 2.0 plans cannot be used with newer phones, because the cellular infrastructure that supports these older phones is being shut down by our cellular carrier partner. See What Does the CDMA Network Shutdown Mean for Me?
  • For details about our 5.0 plans, see: Republic Wireless 5.0 Plans and Information for Existing Republic Wireless Members Considering Moving to a 5.0 Plan
