Finish Setting Up Your Phone

There are a few extra settings you'll need to update to ensure you're getting the most out of your Republic 5.0 Plan. Updating your APN settings ensures you’re able to send and receive MMS messages and use data to connect to the internet.

Before starting the process, make sure your SIM card is inserted and activated, and you've received your activation message.

Android Phones

This process will need to be completed for Android phones not purchased directly from Republic Wireless by DISH.

Note: Some phones purchased from Republic Wireless by DISH (including the Samsung A32) will also need to have their APN settings updated, but not created. For these phones, you'll also want to follow the steps below.

Using the CarrierApp

This is the easiest and fastest way to update your APN settings. The Carrier App will automatically detect your SIM card and configure your phone for you.

  • Step 1: Download the CarrierApp to your phone
    • You can search the Google Play Store using the name "CarrierApp" and look for this logo
    • Carrier_App.png
    • If you're on your mobile device, you can download it by selecting the button below or scanning the QR code:

  • Step 2: Power cycle your phone
    • With your SIM card inserted, restart your device
  • Step 3: You're all done!
    • Once your phone has finished restarting, the CarrierApp will ensure your APN settings are updated as needed

Note:

  • Your Android device will need to be updated to Android 7 or newer for the CarrierApp to work
  • The CarrierApp will only update your APN settings when you've inserted your Republic Wireless by DISH SIM card – this means that installing the app will not affect your existing APN settings if you're still using service from your current carrier while waiting for your transfer/port to complete
  • Uninstalling the app after you've updated your APN settings will not undo your changes

Adjusting your settings manually

Important Note: You need to type the information exactly as it appears below to receive full data functionality.

Note: As you set up each APN, there will be editable entries on your phone that are not listed below. You do not need to edit the ones that are not listed below.

Note: Some phones, particularly some Pixel models, do not allow certain APNs to be added. If your phone refuses to allow you to add a specific APN, double-check that you have typed it correctly, then just move on to the next one.

First, locate the Access Point Names menu. You can use the Search function in the Settings app or navigate to it. On many Motorola phones, it is in Settings under Network & Internet in the Mobile Network advanced menu.

  1. Select the plus "+" sign or the word add to add a new APN
  2. Enter the following information for the fields shown below:
      • APN Name (Name): ereseller
      • APN NI (APN): ereseller
      • MMSC URL (MMSC): http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
      • Multimedia Message (MMS Proxy): proxy.mobile.att.net

        Note:
There are commas between each word

Note: Check these carefully before moving on. Your keyboard's autocorrect feature may have changed what you typed!
      • APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
      • APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
      • Mobile Virtual Network Operator Type (or MVNO): GID
  3. Save the APN (save function may be part of a menu)

      • Mobile Virtual Network Operator Type (or MVNO): GID
  6. Save the APN (save function may be part of a menu)
    • Note: If the phone does not accept APN type dun, then skip to step 7.
  7. Select the plus "+" sign or the word add to add a 3rd APN Setting
  8. Enter the following information for the fields shown below:
      • APN Name (Name): ims
      • APN NI (APN): ims
      • APN Type: ims
      • APN Protocol : IPv6
      • APN Roaming Protocol: IPv6
      • Mobile Virtual Network Operator Type (or MVNO): GID
  9. Save the APN (save function may be part of a menu)
    • Note: If after saving, the ims APN Setting is not displayed, continue to step 10 anyway. This is normal behavior on Motorola phones and will not interfere with the phone's functionality.
  10. Next, Select the plus "+" sign or the word add to add a 4th APN Setting

  11. Enter the following information for the fields shown below:
      • APN Name (Name): sos
      • APN NI (APN): sos
      • APN Type: sos
      • APN Protocol : IPv6
      • APN Roaming Protocol: IPv6
      • Mobile Virtual Network Operator Type (or MVNO): GID
  12. Save the APN (save function may be part of a menu)
  13. Restart your phone
  14. Check to make sure everything is working correctly using the steps below. If everything works, you are done. If not, go back and double-check your APN settings, making sure you entered everything correctly.
    1.  disconnect from Wi-Fi
    2.  try sending a text with a photo
    3. try visiting a website
