Factory reset is one of the options available in the recovery, or settings menu on your phone, by selecting this option, you can reset your phone to the factory settings.
No matter how it's achieved, selecting factory reset will wipe all the data from your phone returning it to a factory state. You will not be able to recover anything once the data is gone if it has not been previously backed up.
