How to Limit Cellular Data Usage by the Google Duo App

Procedure

  1. Open the Google Duo app
  2. Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Call Settings
  5. Ensure Data Saving Mode is on (switch is to the right)

 

Additional Notes

Why Is Google Duo Using Data While I'm On WiFi?

Enabling Data Freeze will completely stop Google Duo from using any data, while connected to WiFi.  This will also prevent any other background apps from using Cellular Data.

If you can't connect to a Wi-Fi network, Data Saving Mode in Duo automatically lowers your connection to 1Mbps.
