Why Is My Republic Wireless Number Not Recognized as a Mobile Number?

Environment

  • Republic Wireless Numbers

Answer

Republic Wireless numbers are considered VoIP (Voice Over Internet) numbers and not wireless numbers. Since our VoIP services use mainly WiFi to operate and not mobile towers, we are recognized by some companies or apps as landline or wireline instead of wireless. This isn't something that we're able to change.

Some online sites do not recognize VoIP numbers as usable numbers for their service, so some sites might not work with a Republic Wireless number. Because of this, you may be unable to use your phone number to sign up for certain apps like Venmo, or Twitter.
