Extend Home Set Up and Number Association

Learn how to perform the initial setup of the Extend Home adapter by Republic Wireless and learn how to associate the adapter with a phone number to enable the Extend Home feature.

Initial Setup

Before You Begin

The following steps are required in order to initially configure your Extend Home adapter. These steps only need to be performed the first time you set up your adapter.

  1. Remove the Extend Home adapter, power plug, and ethernet cable from the box
    • Note: The ethernet cable is underneath the cardboard insert in the box
  2. Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the blue port on the back of the Extend Home adapter and the other end into an open Local Area Network (LAN) port on your router
    • Note: Most residential routers have 1 Wide Area Network (WAN) port (connected to your modem if you have a modem and a router) and 1-4 LAN ports
  3. Plug one end of a telephone cable (not supplied) into the green port on the back of the Extend Home adapter and the other end into a landline phone.
  4. Plug in the power cable
  5. Wait for all three lights on the top of the adapter to light up
  6. Once all three lights are solid, wait 5 minutes for the adapter to update
    • Note: the adapter may reboot (lights will go off and come back on) during this process

Associate a Phone Number

Before You Begin
  • Ensure that you have followed the steps in the Initial Setup section above. If you do not perform the initial setup first, your adapter and phone will not work correctly.
  • If the phone number you want to extend is for an assigned user on your account, the user must complete the steps below.
  1. Log in to your account
  2. Go to Phones
  3. Find the phone you want to extend the number of and click I WANT TO...
  4. Click Extend My Phone

  6. Click Save
  7. Select a timezone
  8. Enter the 12-digit MAC address found on the bottom of the adapter or on the box
  9. Click Save
  10. Your home phone should ring, answer it and listen for the 4-digit PIN
    • Note: If your phone doesn't ring, you'll need to start the process over beginning with the initial setup
  11. Enter the 4-digit PIN on the association page of your account
  12. Click Save
  13. Wait 10 minutes before trying to make or receive calls on your home phone
  14. Update your E911 address
 Important Note Regarding 911 Service

The Extend Home adapter is a VoIP device. E911 Service may be limited or unavailable in the event of a power outage or internet failure, we highly recommend you have an alternate means of contacting 911. If you make a E911 call from this device, you will be routed to a regional public safety answering point (PSAP) or a national call center. In either case, be ready to provide the emergency dispatcher with your actual location from where you are calling.
