Objective
- Copy data from Android phone to a Google Pixel phone
Environment
- Activating a new Google Pixel Phone
- Android phone running Android 5.1 Lollipop or later and new Google Pixel phone
- USB cable provided with Android phone
- Google Quick Switch adapter
- Google account information
Procedure
- Charge both phones
- Turn on both phones
- Tap Start on the Google Pixel follow prompts to connect to WiFi
- After connecting to WiFi, follow prompts until you reach the Copy apps and data screen
- Tap Next
- At the connect the phones screen, connect your phones together. Plug one end of a USB cable into your Android phone. Plug the cable's other end into your Pixel phone. Or you can plug the USB cable into the Quick Switch Adapter and plug the adapter into your Pixel phone
- On your Android phone tap Copy, follow the on-screen prompts
- You will see a list of your data on your Pixel phone
- If you want to copy all of your data, tap Copy
- If you want to copy some of your data, toggle off what you don't want to copy, tap Copy
- You will get a notification when your transfer is done
Additional Notes
You can copy the following from your Android phone:
- Google Accounts
- Contacts stored on your phone or a SIM card
- SMS Text messages that don't contain music, photos, or videos
- Most phone settings, this will vary by phone and Android version
- Apps and app data
- Music, photos, and videos
You cannot copy the following:
- Accounts other than Google Accounts and their data
- Contacts and calendars synced to services other than Google
- Ringtones
- Certain phone settings, this will vary by phone and Android version
- Downloads
- Photos, videos, and music stored in hidden folders
- Photos, videos, or music in text messages. The words in the MMS texts will transfer but attachments won't
- Apps that aren’t from the Google Play Store
- Data from apps that don't use Android backup
