How to Disable Emergency Alerts on Samsung Phones

Objective

  • Disable emergency alerts in the Samsung messages app and the Android system

Environment

Procedure

Android 11+
  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Scroll down and tap Advanced settings
  4. Tap Wireless emergency alerts
  5. Move the slider to the left for any notifications that you don't want
    • The slider will be grey if the notification for that alert is turned off
All Other Android Versions
  1. Open the Samsung Messages app
    • On older Samsung phones, this will be an orange app with a blurb in it
    • On newer Samsung phones, this will be a light blue app with a blurb with three dots in the middle of it
  2. Tap Cancel if asked to make Samsung Messages your default texting app
  3. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner
  4. Tap Settings
  5. Scroll to and tap Emergency alert settings
  6. Tap Emergency alerts
  7. Move the slider to the left for any notifications that you don't want
    • The slider will be grey if the notification for that alert is turned off
