If you are planning on transferring your number to another carrier near your bill cycle date you can avoid being charged for data by Changing Your Plan to 0 GB of data before transferring out. Transfers normally take about 72 hours to complete but they can take up to 10 days in rare cases. You can change your plan for the next month anytime before the bill cycle date.
