Fingerprint Options Missing from Phone Settings



  • Fingerprint sensor was previously working and now it's not
  • Fingerprint settings no longer listed under Security settings


  • Moto G5 Plus
  • Moto E4
  • Moto Z Play


  1. Reboot the phone 
  2. Check to see if there is a software update available 
  3. Check for app updates in the Play Store
  4. Test the in safe mode
    • If the sensor works properly in safe mode, a 3rd party app is likely causing the issue
  5. Clear the cache
  6. Perform a Factory reset
