Error "System UI, No Sim Card, Insert Sim Card" and Unable to Activate Galaxy J3

Symptoms

  • Unable to activate a new Samsung Galaxy J3
  • Error "System UI, No SIM card, Insert SIM card" showing

Environment

  • Samsung Galaxy J3 2017
  • SIM card 
  • Activation 

Resolution

  1. Reinstall the SIM card
  2. Retry activation
  3. Open a Help ticket and request a new SIM card
    • Be sure to provide your shipping address 

Cause

Faulty SIM card 

Additional Notes

If you have another SIM card, regardless of the provider, install this as a test to ensure that the SIM card reader is working.  This may not work to activate but will prove the issue is with the SIM card.
