Unable to Download the Latest Software Version on the Moto Z2 Play


  • Message says "Your device's software is up to date."
  • phone is on an older software version


  • Moto Z2 Play


  1. Power the phone off
  2. Remove the SIM card
  3. Power the phone back on with the SIM card still removed
  4. Connect to WiFi
  5. Download any available software update(s)
  6. Power the phone off once the updates are complete
  7. Install the SIM card
  8. Power the phone back on


Additional Notes

You might need to perform this step a few times before the phone is updated to the latest software version
