Environment
- All Republic Wireless phones running Android 4.4.4 KitKat or higher
- Google Play Store
Resolution
First, ensure that the google account you are using in the Google Play Store, is not a restricted account (e.g., a work or school account)
For the phones running Android 4.4.4 Kitkat through to Android 7.1 Nougat:
- Open your phone's Settings app
- Scroll down and tap on Apps
- Scroll down and tap on the Google Play Store app
- Tap on Force Stop
- Tap on Ok
- Tap on Storage
- Note: On a Motorola phone using anything prior to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you don't need to tap on Storage
- Tap on Clear Cache
- Tap on Clear Data
- Tap on Ok
For phones on Android 8.0+ Oreo:
- Open your phone's Settings app
- Tap on Apps & notifications
- Tap on See all X apps
- Scroll down and tap on the Google Play Store app
- Tap on Force Stop
- Tap on Ok
- Tap on Storage
- Tap on Clear Cache
- Tap on Clear Data
- Tap on Ok
Cause
This is an error resulting from the Google Play Store process in charge of downloading and updating apps.
