How to Boot a Samsung Galaxy Phone into Recovery Mode

Objective

  • To boot a Samsung Galaxy phone into Recovery Mode

Environment

Procedure

  1. Turn off your phone
  2. Unplug any USB or power cables from the phone
  3. Press and hold both the VOL UPPOWER  and HOME (BIXBY for S8 and S8+) buttons at the same time for 2-3 seconds, then release all three buttons once the Android logo appears
    • Note: the Android Recovery Menu should appear after a few seconds

Additional Notes

If the phone cannot be turned off, let the battery drain until the phone turns off. Charge the phone for 30 minutes, then proceed with the steps above.

To exit Recovery Mode, simply tap the power button with "Reboot system now" highlighted.
