Excessive Battery Drain Following Factory Reset

  • Battery is draining rapidly just after a factory reset (greater rate than before factory reset)

  • Nexus 6P
  • Moto X4

  • Updating all applications will cause an additional load on the battery if the phone is unplugged after the factory reset

The applications included in the phone's operating system are going to be out of date following the factory reset.  They'll need to be updated, and typically a few dozen will be updated at once.  This process load will put an additional load on the battery, but this shouldn't continue after a few hours.

Additional Notes

If the battery drain issue were to continue after a day or two, please follow the steps found in How to Determine the Cause of Battery Drain to confirm another issue isn't causing additional battery drain
