No, as long as the phone is CDMA compatible and the CDMA SIM card has never been activated. Additionally, the phone must also have the compatible Software Channel and Build Number approved for activation. If you do not have a CDMA SIM card, please see How to Request a 3.0 CDMA SIM Card

What Phones Are Compatible with CDMA Service?
This includes phones that were previously registered with Republic Wireless then deactivated, and need to be reactivated.
If the BYOP is compatible with Republic Wireless but not eligible to be activated on the CDMA network, it can still be activated on the GSM network.
