How to Update Apps With the Google Play Store

Objective

  • Update Apps with the Google Play Store

Environment

  • Android Phones

Procedure

Newer Versions of the Play store:

  1. Open the Play Store application
  2. Tap your Google Account Icon (circle) in the upper right corner
  3. Tap Manage apps & device
  4. Tap Manage
  5. Tap Updates available
  6. Tap the box next to each app you would like to update
    • Note: If an app is not listed here, you already have the latest version available to you
  7. Tap the checkmark in the upper right corner to update the checked apps
  8. Tap Update

Using the search bar

  1. Tap on the Play store
  2. Tap the search bar at the top
  3. Type in the app name you would like to update and search
  4. Tap on desired app
  5. Tap Update
    • Note: If Update is not an option, but Uninstall instead, then the app is up to date

 

Older Versions of the Play store:

  1. Tap on the Play Store
  2. Tap the 3 bars located in the top left-hand corner
  3. Tap My apps and games
  4. Tap Update next to each app that you would like to update if an update is available
    • Note: If Update is not listed next to the app, you already have the latest version available to you

Additional Notes

For the older app version: While updating your apps you will notice a green box that says "Update All" this is beneficial if you have a large number of apps in need of updates.
