Why Does a SIM Card Expire 20 Days After Deactivation?

Environment

  • Deactivated Republic Wireless 3.0 phone with a CDMA SIM card
  • Deactivated Republic Wireless 3.0 phone with a GSM SIM card
  • "Invalid SIM" error message in Republic app

Answer

Due to system limitations, SIM cards are set up to be unusable after being deactivated for 20 days or longer.

Additional Notes

If your SIM card has been inactive beyond 20 days, you will need a new SIM card. GSM SIM cards can be obtained through the online store or requested by opening a Help TicketCDMA SIM cards are not sold online and must be requested by opening a Ticket.

Please note that all 3.0 phones are able to support GSM SIM cards. However, only certain phones are able to support CDMA SIM cards. See:
