Why Is a Different Number Displayed When I Call or Text Other Phones When I Use a Guest Account?

Environment

  • Republic Wireless phones with Android Lollipop or later operating software
  • Android user or guest account is in use

Answer

The Republic Wireless app / account can only be used by the phone owner. Calling while logged in to a user profile will bypass the Republic app and display a routing number only used in certain cases.  This could also occur with texting applications.

Additional Notes

Because Republic Wireless is a hybrid phone service, our servers may use a routing number in certain cases to deliver calls and texts. It's this routing number that's displayed on outbound calls made from Android user profiles. You won't be able to call other phones on the same Republic Wireless account if you are logged in as a user or guest.
