How to Clear the Android System Cache on Phones Running Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Objective

  • To clear the system cache

Environment

  • Moto E1
  • Moto G1
  • Moto X1
  • Moto X2
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Procedure

  1. Turn off your phone and remove any charging cables
  2. Press and hold both the VOL DOWN and POWER buttons for 2-3 seconds, then release both buttons
  3. Use the VOL DOWN to scroll to Recovery and press the VOL UP key to select
    • Note: The phone will reboot if you wait too long to perform this step
  4. When you see the words No Command press and hold the Press and hold the VOL UP button for 10-15 seconds
  5. While still holding VOL UP, tap and release the POWER button
  6. Use the VOL DOWN button to scroll to Wipe Cache Partition and press the POWER button to select it
