Objective
- To clear the Android system cache
Environment
- All Samsung Galaxy phones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher
Procedure
Samsung Galaxy S6, S7, S7 edge, J3 (all versions), and J7 (all versions)
- Turn OFF your phone and remove any charging cables
- Press and hold the Volume UP, HOME, and POWER buttons at the same time
- Note: The HOME button is the button at the bottom of the screen
- Release the 3 buttons after the phone powers on and displays the Android logo
- The phone will display No Command; after several seconds, The Android Recovery Menu should appear
- If No Command doesn't disappear: hold the POWER button, press the Volume UP button, and release both at the same time
- Note: If the Android logo followed by the Android Recovery Menu doesn't appear, you'll need to start the process again
- Press the Volume DOWN button to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press the POWER button to select it
- Press the Volume DOWN button to highlight Yes and press the POWER button to select it
- After the Cache Wipe is complete, menu items will reappear, with Reboot system now highlighted
- Press the POWER button to select it
Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, S9, S9+, S10, S10e, S10+, Note 8, Note 9, Note 10, and Note 10+
- Turn OFF your phone and remove any charging cables
- Press and hold the Volume UP, BIXBY, and POWER buttons at the same time
- Note: The BIXBY button is below the Volume controls
- Release the 3 buttons after the phone powers on and displays the Android logo
- The phone will display No Command; after several seconds, The Android Recovery Menu should appear
- If No Command doesn't disappear: hold the POWER button, press the Volume UP button, and release both at the same time
- Note: If the Android logo followed by the Android Recovery Menu doesn't appear, you'll need to start the process again
- Press the Volume DOWN button to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press the POWER button to select it
- Press the Volume DOWN button to highlight Yes and press the POWER button to select it
- After the Cache Wipe is complete, menu items will reappear, with Reboot system now highlighted
- Press the POWER button to select it
All other Samsung phones
