"You Must Be the Account Owner to Activate This Device" When Trying to Activate a Phone

Symptoms

  • When activating the phone, receives the error "You must be the account owner to activate this device"

Environment

  • Activation issue
  • Republic Wireless Account

Resolution

On accounts where there may be more than one user, only the Account Owner's email address may be used to activate a phone.

Additional Notes

Secondary users can do the following:

  • Change their name
  • Change their email address
  • Request a number transfer
  • View their usage
  • View their call history
  • Open Help Tickets
