Procedure
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have synced your Google account to your phone
Back up Contacts
- Confirm that your contacts are synced to your Google account by using a computer and visit contacts.google.com
- Any contacts showing on this page will be the contacts that are synced to your Google account.
- Be sure that you're using the same Google account as the phone when logged onto Google's site using your computer.

Back up Photos and Videos
- Confirm that your photos are synced to your Google account by using a computer to visit photos.google.com
- Be sure that you're using the same Google account as the phone when logged onto Google's site using your computer.

Back up Messages (SMS/MMS and voicemail messages)
If your phone is running Android 8.0 Oreo or higher, you may have the option to back up text messages with Messages by Google. For the instructions, please see How to Back up Text Messages with Messages by Google.
Important Note
If your phone is running Android 7.1 Nougat or below, then there currently isn't a way to move SMS and MMS to your computer or SD card. However, there are third-party apps in the Google Play Store that may be able to backup and restore your messages.

Back up Miscellaneous Files

You can backup and restore your phone settings such as wallpaper, WiFi passwords, app settings, etc using Google's Backup and Restore. - Samsung Account Backup (for the Samsung Galaxy J3, S6, S7, and S7 edge phones)
