Service Plans
The service plans for Moto Maker are the same as those offered for Republic’s non-customized Moto X:
- If you're upgrading an existing Republic service line to a new Moto X and you're currently on our 1.0 plans, you can remain on the 1.0 plans until August 1, 2016.
- If you're adding a new line of service with Republic, you can only choose from the 2.0 plans.

Republic Refund™ Plans
Thanks to the input we've received from our members and our continued dedication to innovating our service, we now offer new plans designed to give even greater control over your cell plans (as well as your wallet!) paired with our new Republic Refund™ plan.
Working with the feedback from our amazing members, we've built the Republic Refund Plan that allows you the ability to purchase as much (or as little) cellular data based on your needs and get credited back for what you don't use!
For more information, check out Republic Wireless Plans 2.0: Republic Refund.
Return Policy
Phones purchased through Moto Maker are eligible for Motorola’s return policy. In short, if you purchase a Moto X from Motorola, you have 14 days from date of delivery to return it (California residents have up to 30 days to return their Moto X). You can follow the instructions in the box or call them at 1-800-734-5870 to facilitate your return.
If you're a new member or an existing member adding a new line of service, and you purchased your Moto X from Moto Maker, you're eligible to receive a monthly plan charge refund within 30 days of purchase. Follow the steps in the Cancel My Republic Service to cancel your service line. Please see our Money Back Guarantee for more info.
Replacement Policy
Motorola provides a one year warranty on the Moto X for warrantable replacements. Beyond that, Motorola offers a two year Moto Care Accident Protection plan for $85 that can be added at the time of checkout. This plan provides accidental damage and extended mechanical coverage with a $39 deductible. However, it does not cover loss or theft of your phone.
FAQs
How do I upgrade from my DEFY XT and use Moto Maker?
Once you receive your customized Moto X, you’ll be able to upgrade during the Republic activation process.
How do I upgrade from my Moto X, Moto G, or Moto E, and use Moto Maker?
If you're outside of our Money Back Guarantee and want to upgrade to a Moto Maker Moto X, you'll be able to upgrade during the Republic activation process once you receive your customized Moto X.
I just bought a Moto X through Republic in the last 30 days, but I want to use Moto Maker instead. What should I do?
If you're within our Money Back Guarantee, you can cancel through the My Account portal and purchase through Moto Maker.
I don't see an option to choose a plan or phone number on the Moto Maker site, is this normal?
Yes. You will choose your monthly service plan during the on device activation process once you get your phone. You will also be assigned a phone number after completing the on device activation process.
Why is the return policy different when I purchase through Motorola’s Moto Maker?
When you purchase a phone through Motorola’s Moto Maker, you are buying your phone from an entirely different company, and some of their policies (like returns) differ from Republic’s. The terms and conditions you are agreeing to are managed by Motorola and not Republic. All returns and device claims should be directed to Motorola if you buy your phone through Moto Maker.
Is financing available?
Yes. Financing options are available at the time of checkout. You can also apply here.
Am I eligible for any of the promotions Motorola has on the Moto Maker site?
Some Motorola promotions may be available for Republic Moto Maker purchases. See our Special Offers and Promotions doc for more info.
Can I change my order (color, name, etc.)?
Motorola allows orders to be modified within roughly one hour of order placement. Beyond that, redesigns and returns are available within 14 days of purchase (30 days in CA). You can reach out to Motorola here.
How do I gift someone so they can create their own Moto X with the Moto Maker and I pay for it?
You can either design and purchase for them or have them design it and you enter your billing info at checkout. Once they have the phone, they can set up their own account and select their own plan right from the phone.
I forgot to choose Republic Wireless when using the Moto Maker, how do I change this?
You can contact Motorola to coordinate the change.
How do I track my order?
You can track the status of your order through My Motorola Account.
If I buy a Moto X through Moto Maker, is service available in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Alaska, New Hampshire or Hawaii?
The service provided on Moto Xs purchased through Moto Maker is the same as Republic's service. This means service is unavailable in Alaska, New Hampshire or Hawaii. You can make outbound calls to Per Call Countries/Territories. Per Call Countries/Territories include Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, American Somoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, and the Wake Island. Republic currently includes outbound calls to Per Call Countries/Territories as part of our monthly calling plans, but reserves the right to charge up to $0.50 per minute. For Republic Wireless phones with Android OS versions prior to 5.1, Per Call Country/Territory outbound calling will not work if caller ID is blocked. See Number Transfers for more info.
