Service Plans

Service plans available for the Moto G (1st Gen.)

Three different plans will be offered for the Moto G (1st Gen.) ranging from $5/month to $25/month. Depending on your needs and how you want to use your phone, you can choose the plan that's best for you. The Moto G (1st Gen.) is a 3G-capable smartphone. 4G is not available for this device, regardless of mobile provider.

$5 WiFi Only

This plan is for WiFi lovers and penny savers. Take a load off your wallet and enjoy unlimited data, talk and text on all the WiFi networks you know and love at the same time. No need for cellular when you're around WiFi as much as you are!

$10 WiFi + Cell Talk & Text
Our members are around WiFi about 90% of the time. During the other 10%, when you’re away from WiFi, this plan gives you cellular backup for communicating via text and talk when you need to. This plan combines both cutting costs and accommodates what’s quickly becoming the norm: a day filled with WiFi.

If you're more of an outdoors kind of person and you like to surf the internet, check email in the car (as a passenger!) or use GPS navigation, this plan lets you enjoy all the benefits of WiFi with the additional luxury of 3G cellular data. And if you only need this plan for part of the month—no problem! You can always switch to the $5 or $10 plan right from your phone (up to two switches per monthly billing cycle period).

I bought another Republic phone recently. Can I return it in exchange for the less expensive Moto G (1st Gen.)?

There is no trade in program available, but if you're within your 14-day return window, you may return your other phone for a full refund (minus initial shipping cost) and purchase a new Moto G (1st Gen.).

When will reactivations be available?

Reactivations for all phones (except for LG Optimus S™) are now available.

If I choose to switch to the Moto G (1st Gen.), will my contacts and apps automatically transfer over?

There are two primary ways to make sure your contacts and apps transfer to your new device:

  1. Sync your contacts - You can sync your contacts to your Google account from your old phone. Once you have your new phone, they’ll automatically load when you sign in on your new phone.
  2. Use Motorola's Migrate app - Motorola's Migrate app is designed to make the process of transferring your contacts, apps, photos, even text message history easier than ever. Check it out on the Google Play store. The Migrate app is pre-installed on the Moto X and Moto G, but you’ll need to install it your old phone as well (it’s compatible with any Android phone version 2.2 and above).

Does the 10% beta discount apply to the Moto G (1st Gen.)?

If you’re an existing member who owns an active Motorola DEFY XT purchased by September 25, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. ET, you’re eligible for a 10% discount off your new monthly plan when you transfer that existing line to the Moto X or any future phones, including the Moto G and Moto E. This discount will stay with you for as long as that phone line remains active with Republic, even if you transfer that line to a different Republic phone later. Please see the Beta Member Service Discount FAQ for more info.

Motorola says that I get 50GB of free storage for two years on Google Drive. How do I take advantage of this offer?

Simply open the Google Drive app on your Moto G (1st Gen.). You'll be prompted to redeem your free 50GB of storage. This offer is only available within 30 days of activation and you are only prompted once, so be sure to set it up right away if you're interested in using it. Check out Google Drive 50GB Promotion for more info.
