For DEFY XT Users |
This will erase all of your apps and reset your phone to a cleared state.
- Any firmware update you have installed will still be on your phone.
- If you’re concerned about losing your contacts, see Manage Contacts for Motorola DEFY XT for instructions on how to back up your contacts.
NOTE: You must be in a Sprint home area to perform a factory data reset. If you're roaming, the reset won't perform properly.
Choose which state your phone is currently in:
If your phone is powered on and currently working
- Tap Home.
- Tap Menu.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll down to Privacy.
- Select Factory Data Reset.
Note: Do NOT select Erase SD Card. To be safe, you can remove your SD card. - Select Reset Phone.
- Confirm by selecting Erase Everything.
If your phone is powered off or frozen
- Power the phone off or remove the battery if it's unresponsive.
- Unplug any USB or power cables from the phone.
- Replace the battery and battery cover.
- Press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons at the same time.
- While still pressing the Volume buttons, press the Power button.
- Hold all three buttons until the red Motorola logo appears.
- Release the three buttons you were holding down.
- The Android logo with an exclamation mark will appear.
- Tap Home.
- Using the Volume Down button, scroll down to Wipe data/factory reset.
- Press the Power button to select.
- Using the Volume Down button, scroll down to Yes-delete all user data.
- Press the Power button to select.
- Once complete, press the Power button again to reboot the system.
After you complete the reset steps, your phone will power off and then back on. It will take a few minutes to load, so please be patient. Please test your phone before adding back any apps or accounts.
