If your device is currently running on Lollipop, you can find the system update installation instructions here: How to Install System Updates (From Lollipop)
What are system updates?
System updates bring new features and improvements to Republic phones through upgrades to newer versions of the Android operating system. You may see system updates called OTA updates in the Community. "Over the air" updates are delivered directly to your phone through WiFi.
When's the next system update? When are we getting the next version of Android?
We always want to give you the best operating system we can. Any change to our phones' ROM requires an over-the-air (OTA) update, and that means we need to go through the certification process. We need all key partners, from carrier to manufacturer, to be on board to make future updates possible and timely. While we wish there was a magical “go faster” button we could push, we haven’t invented it yet.
We'd love to tell you our grand long-term Android updating plans, but there can be timeline changes. We don't want to announce a date, then have it change - possibly multiple times - before the update's ready for Republic.
When we update to a newer version of Android, we'll make an announcement, and you'll see the update on your phone. For more info on the latest system updates, check out Republic Health and Wellness and Republic Wireless Release Notes.
