Customize Your Home Screen (Lollipop)

Wallpaper

 

Change your wallpaper

You can choose from standard wallpapers, photos from your Gallery, or from synced galleries such as Photos.

 

Change to a standard wallpaper

 

  1. Press and hold on any blank space on your Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Scroll right to see all of the standard wallpapers.
  4. Tap the wallpaper you would like to use.
  5. Tap Set wallpaper at the top of the screen.

Change wallpaper to a picture or photo from your phone

  1. Press and hold on any blank space on your Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Tap Pick image.
  4. Recent photos will display by default. To choose from Google Drive, Images, Downloads, Gallery or Photos, tap the Menu icon on the top left hand side of the screen.
  5. Tap the picture you'd like to use. Tip: Move the image left or right to position it where you want.
  6. Tap Set wallpaper at the top of the screen.

Widgets

Add a widget

  1. Press and hold on any blank space on your Home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Press and hold the widget until it vibrates.
  4. Drag the widget to the desired location on the home screen.

Tip: Press and hold a widget to move it.

Remove a widget

Remove a widget by pressing and holding it until it vibrates. Then, drag it to Remove at the top of the screen.

Resize a widget

To resize a widget, press until the perimeter is highlighted and drag a corner to resize. Some widgets are not resizable.

View items in a widget

To see more items on a scrollable widget, drag up or down. Tap an item to open in the app. To see more items in a photo widget, flick up or down to scan through items in the stack. Tap an item to open it.


Shortcuts

Add a shortcut

The shortcuts available depend on the applications you've installed.

  1. Tap Apps.
  2. Press and hold an app icon until it vibrates.
  3. Drag the app shortcut to the desired location on the home screen.

Tip: Press and hold a shortcut to move it.

Remove a shortcut

Remove a shortcut by pressing and holding it until it vibrates. Then, drag it to Remove at the top of the screen.


Folders

Add a folder

  1. Press and hold an app icon until you feel a vibration.
  2. Drag the app icon to your home screen.
  3. Drag another app and place it over top of the other one.
  4. Repeat with any other app icons you want to place in the same folder.

Name a folder

  1. Tap the icon grouping.
  2. Tap Unnamed Folder.
  3. Type in a new folder name.
  4. Tap Done.
