Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI)

Republic Wireless, Inc. (“Republic Wireless” or “we”) is committed to maintaining the privacy of our community members.

In addition to the protections outlined in our Privacy Policy posted online, we seek to obtain your approval to use, disclose, or provide access to certain information about the communications services you purchase from us in accordance with federal law. From time to time, we may want to use this information to offer you other services to enhance your communications capabilities.

Please review this notice carefully, as it contains important information about what kind of information requires your approval and how you can withhold your approval if you desire.

What is CPNI?

As a member of the Republic Wireless community, certain information about the communications services you obtain from us is protected under federal law from unauthorized use and disclosure, including: (1) information about the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location and amount of use of your communications services and (2) information contained on your bill concerning your communications services. This information is known as “Customer Proprietary Network Information” or “CPNI.” Examples of CPNI include the phone numbers that you call, the length of phone calls, and communications services you purchase. CPNI does not include aggregated information not specific to a single customer. CPNI also does not include information about non- telecommunications services, such as Internet access.

Approval of Our Use of CPNI

Under federal rules, providers may use customers’ CPNI without prior approval to provide customers with  information about services that are within the same category of service you already purchase from us and in certain other circumstances. For example, we are allowed to use your CPNI in the following cases: to provide equipment, call answering, voicemail or messaging services, fax store and forward services and protocol conversions; to provide inside wiring installation, maintenance and repair services, if applicable; to protect our rights or property (or users of our services and other carriers) from fraudulent, abusive or unlawful use of services; and to provide services to you in the normal course of business, including billing and customer service without obtaining your prior approval.

However, from time to time, we may want to use your CPNI to provide you with information about other communications-related products and services or special promotions. Using this information can improve our ability to offer products and services tailored to your specific needs. We would like to use your CPNI for marketing purposes that we believe you, our members, would find interesting and of value, including using that information to offer you additional products and services from Republic. Republic may also share your CPNI with selected third parties in situations where third parties can help us do things like understand your likes and dislikes better and find non-members who may also be interested in using Republic Wireless services. We will only do this when the other parties agree to safeguard and protect this information. We will not sell, trade or share your CPNI with any third-party where they will market directly to you. If required by law, (for example a court order) we will share your CPNI to the extent required. If you approve, you do not have to take any action.

How to Restrict Our Use of CPNI

You have the right under federal law to restrict our use, disclosure of or access to your CPNI. You may deny or withdraw our right to use your CPNI at any time. If you prefer that we not use your CPNI to offer you additional products and services or share with third-parties as disclosed above, you may log in to your Republic Wireless customer portal at www.republicwireless.com/account/phones and chose to un-check the approval box. Below are step-by-step instructions:

  1. Log in to My Account.
  2. On the left side, click Account Settings.
  3. Click Privacy Settings.
  4. Uncheck the box next to "I approve Republic Wireless's use of my CPNI for marketing purposes".

For more detailed step-by-step instructions with screenshots, please see How to Restrict Our Use of Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI)‌.

If you decide to deny or restrict our ability to use your CPNI, you will suffer no negative effect, now or in the future, with regard to how we provide your services.  Any denial or restriction of your approval remains valid until your services are discontinued or you affirmatively revoke or limit the denial or restriction. It will also not eliminate other types of marketing from Republic Wireless, nor will it eliminate our use of your CPNI to offer additional services of the type you already receive from Republic Wireless. You do not have to take any action if you have previously contacted us in response to a CPNI notification and denied use of your CPNI for the purposes described above.
